Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Sonder (“Sonder,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides software that turns a non-fiction book into short-form marketing videos and helps authors promote and sell their books. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.

Sonder is operated by Levity Pty Ltd. Levity Pty Ltd is the data controller for the information described here, with a registered business address at 12/40 Flood Street, Bondi NSW 2026, Australia. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@yousonder.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information — your name and email address, created when you sign up (managed through our authentication provider).
• Billing information — your subscription plan and payment status. Card details are entered and stored by our payment processor; we never see or store your full card number.
• Book and content you upload — the book text, cover, and any details you provide so we can generate your videos. See the dedicated section below.
• Generated media — the videos, scripts, voiceovers, and images we produce for you.
• Advertising data — if you connect your Amazon Advertising account, the campaign, performance, and sales data we retrieve on your behalf (see section 6).
• Usage and device data — basic technical information (such as log data and how you interact with the app) used to operate and improve the service.

3. Your book content

When you upload a book or manuscript, we use it solely to generate the videos, scripts, and marketing assets you ask for. Your book remains yours.

• We do not claim ownership of your book or the content you upload.
• We do not sell your book content or share it except with the service providers needed to produce your videos (see section 5).
• We do not use your uploaded book to train our own or any third-party AI models.
• We process your text through established third-party AI providers' commercial APIs. Under those commercial API terms, content submitted via the API is not used to train AI models — this is a core reason we build on commercial APIs rather than consumer AI tools.
• Your uploaded manuscript is stored privately, scoped to your account, and protected by encryption in transit and at rest. It is not placed in any public location.
• You can delete your book content, and request that we delete our copies, at any time (see section 13).

4. How we use your information

We use your information to:

• generate your videos and related marketing assets;
• operate, maintain, and improve the service;
• process payments and manage your subscription;
• provide support and respond to your requests;
• send you transactional messages (for example, when a video is ready, password resets, and billing notices);
• with your consent or as permitted by law, send you marketing emails (see section 7);
• where you connect it, retrieve and analyze your advertising performance to help you improve your campaigns (see section 6);
• detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.

5. Service providers we share data with

We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf to run Sonder, under contract and only for the purposes described in this policy. These fall into a few categories of function:

• cloud hosting, databases, and authentication;
• payment processing;
• AI text, voice, image, and video generation used to produce your videos;
• video processing, captioning, and delivery.

Each provider acts under contract and only for the purposes above. We choose established providers whose terms protect your content — including, for the AI providers, commitments not to use content submitted through their commercial APIs to train AI models. We may change the specific providers we use as our service evolves, and we do not sell your personal information.

6. Connecting your Amazon Advertising account

If you choose to connect your Amazon Advertising account, you authorize us through Amazon's secure sign-in (Login with Amazon / OAuth). We never see your Amazon password.

• We access your advertising data through the Amazon Ads API — such as your campaigns, keywords, spend, and attributed sales — to show you performance and provide optimization recommendations.
• We store the access credentials (tokens) securely and use them only to provide these features to you.
• We handle data obtained from Amazon in accordance with Amazon's applicable data-protection and acceptable-use requirements, and we do not use it for any purpose other than serving you.
• You can disconnect your Amazon account at any time, which revokes our access going forward. You may also ask us to delete the advertising data we hold.

7. Marketing emails

With your consent or where otherwise permitted, we send marketing emails from hello@yousonder.com. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time — this does not affect transactional emails you need to use the service (video-ready notifications, password resets, and billing). You can also opt out by emailing us.

8. Cookies and advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to run the app (for example, keeping you signed in). We do not currently run third-party analytics.

We expect to begin advertising Sonder on third-party platforms such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram). When we do, we may use their advertising and measurement technologies (such as the Meta Pixel) to understand the performance of our ads. We will update this policy before those technologies are active, and where required we will ask for your consent.

9. International data transfers

We and our service providers may process your information in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) as required by applicable law.

10. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. You can request deletion at any time (see section 13).

11. Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls that scope your content to your own account, and reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly to any incident.

12. Children

Sonder is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the use of your data, and to object to certain processing. If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal bases for processing are performing our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and improving Sonder, and compliance with legal obligations.

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct your information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — which we do not do.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Sonder after an update means you accept the revised policy.
